Skilled Fitter
Morson Talent are currently recruiting for Skilled Aircraft Fitters for exciting new opportunities on behalf of one our clients at their Filton site. We are looking for Skilled Fitters to work a 6 month ongoing contract.
As a global company our client are serving the worlds leading aircraft and aero-engine manufacturers with three business lines: Civil airframe, defense airframe and engine systems.
Key information:
Candidates will need a level 3 indentured apprenticeship in a relevant field or an NVQ Level 3 with 3-5 years aerospace experience.
Candidates will need to demonstrate their skills by attending a Trade Test at the Filton site. The Trade Test is a metallics structural Trade Test whereby candidates will be drilling riveting countersinking and bolting.
Standard Hours: 40 per week
Other working hours information: Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. Week 2: Thursday, Friday Hours are 7am to 6.45pm.
Shift Pattern: 7 Day Fortnite once completed training which will be Core Days at 17.22
Rate: 23.31
Overtime 27.98
Location: Filton
Security requirements: Baseline Security Clearance Required usually ahead of start date
MAIN TASKS
To operate as a multi-skilled, flexible worker to ensure maximum effectiveness and
efficiency. To have a wide knowledge of hand and machine tools used in the aircraft
industry including:
• Precussion riveting
• Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools
• Setting structures in build jigs
• Deburring of structures
• Fettling using approved setting tools
• Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium
• Use of CNC pillar drills (DONAU)
KEY DELIVERABLES
• Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp
approval)
• Responsible for general housekeeping within the area
KEY SKILLS AND REQUIRMENTS
Candidate must have a recognised indentured apprenticeship and ideally have previous manufacturing experience in an aircraft production environment.
• Ability to work to standard operating procedures
• Must be able to work in small teams with Process Team Leaders
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support
continuous improvement initiatives
• Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
