As Legal Counsel I, you will support the legal team by providing advice and assistance on a wide range of legal matters, with a focus on the business operations of SNC. Your support will include contract negotiation, compliance, and intellectual property law activities. Legal support will generally be provided independently. Legal Counsel I may be a subject matter expert in a particular area of law and/or take on responsibilities overseeing outside counsel on discrete matters.
Our team is responsible for government affairs, international strategy, international business, and trade and regulatory compliance. We provide strategic guidance across the organization, helping to find alignment and compliance between SNC and the national security priorities of the U.S. government.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice on business matters to mitigate risks and develop solutions.
Provide subject-specific support on advanced legal issues.
Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and stakeholders.
Support senior legal personnel on large projects.
Conduct internal training on legal topics and company policies.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
3+ years of relevant experience in a respected law firm or as in-house counsel.
Admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state.
Substantial corporate, commercial, and technology transactional experience and superior contract drafting and negotiating skills.
Experience supporting technology and software licensing, acquisition, protection, and counseling.
Experience in government contracting including agreement drafting and negotiations.
Experience and competence in corporate legal issues.
Ability to identify and mitigate legal risk and develop workable business solutions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate/work with others.
Ability to organize projects/tasks and meet established deadlines.
Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) regulations.
Experience with one or more of the following: trade compliance, intellectual property law, commercial/government contracting, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, mergers, acquisitions, and/or litigation.
Experience with legal research, analysis, and writing.
Experience with legal research databases.
Self-starter and a problem solver; must have the ability to see the big picture and implement changes as required.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military.
Essential Functions:

Must be able to draft and review legal documents accurately.
Occasional travel may be required.
Ability to work in an office environment.
