Position Overview
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the SASSIE contract. This role provides laboratory operations, equipment accountability, logistics coordination, and facility support within the AFRL/RVBY environment.

The Laboratory Technician will support scientists and engineers by ensuring laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies are properly tracked, maintained, and available to support research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit documentation to ensure lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) accountability for all government supplies, laboratory support equipment, and Information Technology Equipment (ITE). Accounts include 102TN, 102ID, 102ZM, and PLEH.

  • Manage and track the flow of materials, parts, and equipment within the RD/RV directorates in accordance with DoD and U.S. Air Force policies.

  • Compile and maintain records to schedule repairs, locate and track equipment, and manage equipment/material accountability.

  • Coordinate with Scientists and Engineers (S&E) to determine equipment and material requirements for RDT&E testing.

  • Move, transport, or requisition equipment and materials and coordinate delivery to locations both on and off the installation.

  • Support the RVBY branch as equipment and ITE custodians and assist with annual inventories and property accountability.

  • Serve as the Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) Manager and Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK) Monitor.

  • Perform limited facility management duties within branch laboratories and workspaces.

  • Operate and maintain storage and holding areas, including flammable storage when applicable, and support Initial Accumulation Point (IAP) monitoring in accordance with Air Force and DoD regulations.

  • Inspect and maintain Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) stations and grounding bars/monitors.

  • Perform basic periodic maintenance on laboratory support equipment (e.g., cleaning, filter changes, minor adjustments) and maintain documentation in accordance with Air Force policies.

  • Coordinate and assist with the shipment of government cargo, including support for local field deployment at Kirtland AFB (KAFB).

  • Coordinate vehicle checkout and rental processes to support laboratory personnel operations.

  • Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) and Inspector General (IG) inspections when required.

  • Support the establishment and maintenance of Logistics Support Stocks (LSS) and Working Stocks (WS) for AFRL/RVBY.

  • Maintain laboratory and workspace organization and cleanliness, including breaking down boxes and disposing of materials.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following:

    • Equipment control

    • Property accountability

    • Material management

    • Laboratory support operations

  • Minimum of two years of experience using computers, including Microsoft Office 365

  • Valid state driver’s license

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

  • US Citizenship is required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods

  • Ability to travel between laboratories and other facilities

  • Ability to perform physical inventory activities

  • Ability to move or transport laboratory equipment and materials as needed

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to be trained in the use of USAF administrative tools and computer systems

The salary range for this role is:

$25 - $35
