We are seeking a dedicated Senior Metallurgical and Chemical Lab Technician responsible for scheduling, assigning, expediting, and checking laboratory work to meet general requirements. The role involves performing routine and non-routine tests and analyses, preparing samples, determining material compositions, setting up machines, calculating and analyzing test results, and preparing technical reports. Effective communication with internal and external suppliers and customers is essential to ensure lab requests are carried out efficiently. The position also supports lab operations and involves leading and coaching lab staff.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, assign, expedite, and check laboratory work.
• Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses.
• Prepare samples for chemical and metallurgical tests.
• Determine the composition and properties of metallic and non-metallic materials.
• Set up machines for testing.
• Calculate and analyze test results.
• Prepare clear, concise, and accurate technical reports.
• Communicate with internal and external suppliers and customers to ensure lab requests are fulfilled.
• Assist and support salaried staff in lab operations.
• Lead and coach lab staff.
• Assign and check the work of clerical staff.
• Handle documents audits and reporting.

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in chemistry or metallurgy.
• Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in chemistry or metallurgy.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to set and prioritize jobs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Effective communication skills.
• Team facilitation skills.
• Ability to lead and coach.
