PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for employee onboarding for department 703 (Investing), including:
    • Update training files
    • Perform weekly audits
    • Track training progress
    • May participate in classroom training
  • Provide hands-on guidance with all employees, with focus on new hires (e.g., technique best practices & issues, work instruction questions, tools matters, clocking questions, etc.)
    • Make sure new employees have all the necessary tools and resources
    • Meet with department leadership (Supervisors and Area Manager) weekly to discuss and identify specific areas in need of additional support (feedback, training, resources, etc)
    • Complete process audits to research outliers and identify best practices to leverage across the team
    • Identify and document best practices for standardization and training
    • Teach and implement best practices to drive safety and improve quality and efficiency
    • Track training progress for new hires within team
    • Provide focused training where employees need additional support to develop skills and to expedite learning curve
    • Provide specialized training for employees with excessive quality feedbacks
  • Complete all routine quality feedbacks for investing team
    • Provide specific quality feedback to teammates, to help them best understand requirements and how to best avoid quality misses
    • Escalate concerns or discrepancies to supervisor or engineering as needed
    • Accountable for additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Responsible for performing production work when not actively engaged in training activities

Each candidate’s qualifications will be assessed to determine who is most qualified for the position. The final selection process will include interviews with the Department Supervisor(s), Area Manager(s), and Human Resources. This is an appointed position and title can be removed at any time for any reason.

INVESTING OPERATOR ROLE GENERAL SUMMARY:

Position performs duties related to investing wax assemblies: bolt cleaning, wire preparation, cleaning duties to maintain department work areas, mold prep, robotic and hand investing, inspecting, buildup slurries and binders, testing materials, testing binders and slurries, autoclave preparation, autoclave operations, water wash and bore-scope.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adhere to plant and department safety rules. Safely operate all equipment and tools. Identify and report safety issues.
  2. Run bolts through bolt cleaner, sort to length and distribute to Wax Molding.
  3. Cut wire squares into various lengths keeping wire bins full.
  4. Prepare wire kits for all molds entering the Investing department according to work instructions.
  5. Maintain a clean environment in the work area.
  6. Dry and dispose of used binders and slurries.
  7. Wash wax tree molds, and cups; blow them dry and prep for Investing.
  8. Wrap tape around frame molds to prepare for Investing.
  9. Operate the robot to transfer molds to Investing and to build a shell.
  10. Inspect molds for defects; blow loose sand from the molds.
  11. Remove tape at appropriate times during investing process.
  12. Blow loose sand from molds prior to each dip to eliminate sand packets and defects.
  13. Mix ingredients to build slurry to supplement usage.
  14. Run daily/weekly tests on slurries and binders. Test incoming materials.
  15. Clip vents, grind cups, and load molds for Dewax.
  16. Operate the autoclave; manually lift molds that may weigh up to 100 lbs; roll frame molds using hoist.
  17. Water wash and bore-scope molds post burnout.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  2. Ability to work in a safe and conscientious manner; adhere to safety rules.
  3. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to co-workers and supervisor.
  4. Ability to complete Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent, basic chemistry and math skills desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to stand, climb, stoop, and reach to perform daily job functions. Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing eighty to one hundred pounds and occasionally up to one hundred and twenty pounds. Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for periods of time.
  2. Ability to pass medical examination and be approved to wear a respirator; ability to pass a respirator fit test which requires no facial hair that interferes w/ the respirator-to-face piece seal.
