We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Occupational Health & Safety Technician based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Reporting to the Director, Safety, as the Occupational Health & Safety Technician at Conair, your role is to provide occupational health and safety support to our team. You are self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized and focused on results. You leverage your skills to implement important occupational health & safety programs and help us all make informed occupational health & safety decisions. Your experience and training in occupational health & safety helps to support your colleagues to function effectively in a safe workplace.When striving to improve occupational health & safety performance, you can be assertive when needed, but you prefer a collaborative approach to addressing problems with colleagues. Team members know you have their back and appreciate your contribution to their wellbeing.In this role your duties will include the following:Conduct hazard identification, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Formal Hazard Assessments (FHAs), and evaluate effectiveness of hazard prevention controls.Support investigations of workplace injuries, and hazardous occurrences; prepare reports and ensure proper reporting to the Labour Program.Perform routine inspections and observations of facilities, equipment, and processes; document findings and support compliance audits.Conduct industrial hygiene sampling (e.g., noise, air quality, chemical exposure), ergonomic assessments.Deliver or assist with occupational health and safety training (e.g., WHMIS, PPE use), and support onboarding for new employees while maintaining compliance records.Evaluate, organize, and manage personal protective equipment (PPE); conduct fit testing (e.g., respiratory protection) and ensure proper training and inventory.Participate in emergency response planning, conduct drills (e.g., evacuation, spill response), and maintain emergency equipment and records.Support WHSC with meeting agendas and minutes, inspections, tracking action items, and annual reports.Provide guidance to employees on health & safety matters, address concerns, and promote a positive safety culture.Maintain and retain records for hazard assessments, inspections, investigations, training, and compliance activities as required by federal regulations.Assist with reporting and documentation to meet federal regulatory requirements and support safety management initiatives.Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Safety.We are looking for someone with:A strong desire to establish/maintain an industry leading occupational health & safety management system and promote a strong and positive safety culture, one in which employees actively care for their safety and the safety of others;Demonstrated ability to gain employee respect and influence change;Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, particularly in the face of opposition;Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively express information and ideas in English, both verbally and in writing;Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to follow a defined process to determine root cause(s) of problems;Capable of reading and interpreting information relating to WHMIS and safety data sheets (SDS); requirements;Knowledge of Canada Labour Code-Part II - Occupational Health and Safety;Knowledge of the requirements for Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air and Ground;Awareness of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and manufacturing of aircraft and aircraft systems;Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).Requirements:Valid driver’s license;Valid passport (able to travel within Canada & internationally);Post secondary education in occupational health & safety or equivalent;One to three years’ experience in occupational health & safety or in an aviation-related field (e.g., manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, airline/airport operations)Occupational health & safety experience in an aviation-related workplace, preferred;Occupational health & safety designation (e.g., CRST), preferred.
