Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, the Flight Operations Pilot is responsible for hangar, ground, and flight tests to certify new aircraft on behalf of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada.  The Pilot also provides technical expertise in development of flight manuals and checklists and will be required to reposition aircraft to various bases or to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Production test flights to test and certify new aircraft to ensure they are safe, free of snags, and are equivalent to type certificate.
  • Acceptance flights with customer pilots on their new aircraft
  • Engineering test flights to certify modified or new equipment for existing aircraft types
  • International Sales and Marketing Demo Flights
  • International delivery flights
  • Entry into service pilot training to be delivered at the customers base (up to 30 days)
  • Producing detailed written reports for production and engineering to describe aircraft or system discrepancy.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of various technical manuals (SOP’s, FTP’s, QRH, etc.)
  • The accurate and timely Completion of all applicable pre and post flight documentation
  • Provide flight / trip planning as required.
  • Completing all post flight duties, including notification to company of the location of the airplane when away from base, recording flight times and any defects as assigned 
  • Conducting crew briefings
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering
  • Extensive knowledge related to engineering flight testing of Transport Category aircraft.
  • Have familiarity and experience with TC, FAA or EASA-approved engineering flight test processes and procedures for Transport Category aircraft.
  • Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot License with a rating on a large turbo-prop aircraft type.
  • Preferred 4,000 hours of total flying time and a minimum of 500 hours of command time on a related turboprop aircraft.
  • Proven ability to execute the duties of an aircraft commander while maintaining a positive and cooperative relationship with the crew, management, and the customers.
  • International experience, and / or a training captain background
  • Have the ability and willingness to work irregular hours and workdays and travel on short notice.
