Job Purpose
• To supervise and coordinate aircraft maintenance activities during assigned shifts, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• To execute maintenance, repair, and servicing of aircraft systems and components under the supervision of certifying staff, ensuring strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• The role also involves guiding technicians and ensuring operational readiness of aircraft within defined timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Management
• Plan and allocate tasks to maintenance personnel based on qualifications and workload.
• Conduct daily shift briefings to review safety, priorities, and operational updates.
• Ensure smooth handover between shifts with proper documentation and communication
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce adherence to safety protocols, company procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor work areas for hazards and maintain a clean, organized environment.
• Report and escalate any safety or compliance issues immediately.
Operational Oversight
• Supervise aircraft servicing, inspections, and minor repairs under approved data.
• Coordinate with certifying engineers for tasks requiring release to service.
• Track progress of work orders and adjust priorities to meet operational timelines.
Resource Management
• Ensure availability of tools, equipment, and materials for scheduled tasks.
• Monitor inventory and request replenishment when necessary.
• Maintain proper documentation of tool usage and calibration status.
Staff Supervision
• Provide technical guidance and support to technicians.
• Identify training needs and assist in skill development.
• Monitor staff performance and maintain discipline during the shift.
• Ensure proper safety measures are taken for any task allocated, like staff wearing/utilizing safety gears as defined i.e. Safety shoes, harness etc
• Ensure technicians are utilizing all proper uniform as per guidelines
Communication
• Liaise with flight operations, planning, and certifying staff to minimize delays.
• Communicate effectively with management regarding shift progress and issues.
Emergency Response
• Assist in troubleshooting during AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations.
• Support irregular operations and ensure timely resolution.
Technical Operations
• Assist Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting using approved manuals and diagnostic tools.
• Execute repairs and component replacements as per maintenance documentation and OEM standards.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of all maintenance activities.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and report any hazards or non-conformities.
• Maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
• Support aircraft readiness for inspection and release by certifying personnel.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational timelines and service delivery standards.
Shift & Resource Management
• Allocate tasks to Senior Technicians and Technicians based on skill and operational requirements.
• Ensure team toolkits are maintained in accordance with company standards.
• Monitor and ensure proper return of tools and materials issued during the shift.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Cabin Appearance, and Ground Services to uphold cabin maintenance standards.
• Ensure the work area is cleared of debris and tools post-task completion.
• Conduct effective shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations.
Team Leadership & Development
• Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
• Support the professional development of team members through on-the-job training and knowledge sharing.
Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

Educational
• 10+2 (PCM) or equivalent.
• Ab-initio AME training from a DGCA-approved institution.
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Master Technician.
• Minimum 14 years of hands-on maintenance experience (Line/Base/Cabin) on transport category aircraft in a scheduled airline.
• At least 8+ years of experience on Air India operating fleet
