Location Profile:

PCC Rollmet is a leading manufacturer of cold worked and annealed pipe for the petrochemical, energy and defense industries. We provide precision thin wall seamless cylindrical shapes, pipes and tubes across a wide range of materials, including nickel alloy, stainless steel, aluminum, and ferritic alloy. PCC Rollmet has pioneered our unique Cold Roll Extrusion process to manufacture precision thin wall tubes under 0.75” thicknesses. Strengths of our cold roll extruded, solid-solution alloy pipes are greater than those of conventionally manufactured pipe and tube, due to the fine-grain size achieved through cold working and recrystallization.



Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer Co-Op implements the manufacturing processes required to ensure achievement of daily, weekly and monthly performance goals in the area safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost. This position typically spends 50 of work time on the production floor and 50 of work time in an office environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, prioritizes, and implements process improvements that will deliver achievement of daily, weekly and monthly performance metrics in the area of safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost. This is done by utilizing data mining, tracking reports, documentation collating, acceptable engineering techniques, and process knowledge.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance and purchasing leaders to manage, direct and coordinate tracking of Material Nonconforming reports.
  • Implement calibration tracking of tooling, gages and fixtures via licensed software, needed to produce products that meet customer requirements.
  • Develop standard work instructions needed to improve safety, increase quality, increase productivity, reduce scrap and eliminate delinquencies.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements, which may impact production.
  • Maintain system documentation for processes and procedures.
  • Foster a “Safety 24/7” culture; driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety related incidents annually.
  • Generate daily reports related to Safety and Quality as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Working towards a BS Degree in Engineering – Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering Preferred
  • Process improvement knowledge; Black Belt, Lean/Six Sigma
  • Understanding of total quality management system and tools (systematic problem solving through root cause analysis, process design for manufacturing and assembly, demand flow, bills of material structure, process plans, routings, and Value Stream Mapping)
  • Language: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to verbally communicate effectively.
  • Mathematical: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common send understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read & interpret blue prints.
  • Ability to read & interpret router instructions & specifications.
  • Properly use calipers, micrometers, and other gauge measuring tools.
