Airbus UpNext is looking for a MAP engineer for eXtra performance WING Episode 2, a flying demonstrator based on an Episode 1 dedicated to the design and the preparation of the platform for this experiment.

This project will be demonstrating technologies that will radically change aircraft wings. Our ambition is to unlock eXtra performances via high aspect ratio wings. 

The demonstration will run on a representative scale aircraft showing up to 10 block fuel reduction of a future single aisle aircraft.  If successful, these technologies developed on this project will allow Airbus designers to equip the new generation of aircraft.

The XWing MAP engineer (M/F) position is within Airbus UpNext, is based in Toulouse, with working part time (~50) on our industrial site in Cazaux (33).

This job consists of a fixed-term contract (CDIC-C), starting ASAP till June 2026.

Mission

MAP team role is to ensure that the A/C and/or demonstrator is good for flight and ensure Airbus Logbook answered technically to approve configuration change, deviation,and general technical status.

Scope covered: System installation & Flight Test Instrumentation FTI (full responsibility) and deputy of MAP leader on site for Systems & Structure (unique entry point for FAL but decision responsibility is on System & Structure design offices MAP focal points)

MAP engineer will have a key role in coordination between MRO and the whole Engineering organization to ensure the right first time approach and will work in close synergy with the Aircraft Manager during the conversion, ground test & flight test phases? Main activities are:

  • Ensuring all deviations/non-conformities properly declared, treated on fast-track approach, and with solution proposed to solve the issue

  • Proposing solution to ensure functionalities & safety while being pragmatic to secure cost & leadtime of implementation

  • Escalating & prioritize topics for the MRO to the Airbus Upnext Engineering organization 

  • Supporting activities for all ATA chapters through ALB with Engineering support

  • Leading flight test support activities related to troubleshooting, repair & rework instruction

  • Leading Engineering assessment to provide good for flight in ALB

  • Creating / Approving EAM (or SI in Airbus world) for certain ATA (according to eXtra Wing Performance Document signatories - ref ADNS X00D21017520)

  • Engineering Support to A/C Manager for Target Conf consolidation

  • Participating to daily ROP meetings
