Summer of 2025 Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Co-op student opportunity (paid, with housing stipend)
*A minimum of a 3-month assignment. Part-time employment (20+hrs/week) for 6-months also qualifies.
EHS CO-OP STUDENT SUMMARY:
The EHS Co-op will be working on job assignments related to their functional environmental or safety discipline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Apply EHS principles that he or she has learned in school to hands-on situations.
Work with the hourly workforce to address day-to-day safety concerns.
Create Department Hazard Maps.
Review Environmental / Safety Policies, Procedures, and Programs.
Perform Respirator Fit Testing.
Perform Plant-wide Hearing Conservation Survey.
Gather / Research Safety Data for the Safety Department.
Conduct Confined Space Entry Evaluations.
Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for various processes and task.
Work on various environmental projects.
Attend safety training sessions and other appropriate educational opportunities (e.g., Jefferson County Safety Council Luncheon, Emergency Response & Fire Brigade, etc.).
Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform daily safety inspections
Bring safety concerns to the Safety Department
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor&39;s Degree or Master’s Degree in Environmental or Safety discipline.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Knowledge of related environmental, health, and safety engineering practice and regulatory compliance (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI. Etc.). Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
