Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate Power Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to join our Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Engineering Team in San Carlos, CA. The Power Electronics Manufacturing Engineer will participate in new product introduction and ramp-up of Joby aircraft powertrains through the implementation of manufacturing equipment and new processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams. This individual must be organized and self-driven, with an understanding of manufacturing scale-up, mechanical & electrical fundamentals, equipment, and quality systems. Responsibilities
- Partner with Design Engineering to develop and implement manufacturing processes for the product development phase.
- Design, build, and implement equipment and processes for the assembly, test, and validation of hardware from the prototype stage through volume production.
- Participate in design reviews during all phases of product development.
- Drive cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing quality, throughput, and ergonomics.
- Lead the equipment selection and procurement process for advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Author and release manufacturing instructions and process documentation to ensure flawless builds.
Required
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 2+ years of experience, or M.S. with 1+ year.
- Solid foundation in power electronics principles and manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with power electronics hardware.
- Familiarity with PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to solve complex technical challenges in a cross-functional environment.
- Proficient in GD&T.
- Familiarity with DFM and DFA principles.
Desired
- Experience in manufacturing quality systems such as IATF 16949 or equivalent.
- Practical knowledge of IPC-610 standards.
- Experience with semiconductor manufacturing or high-volume electronic assembly equipment.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $98,400 - $164,700/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
