Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Trainer III for it’s Armament Systems Business Unit located in Plymouth, MNArmament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns and Precision Guidance Ordinance.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Trainer designs, coordinates, and delivers hands-on programs to ensure production staff are qualified, safe, and compliant. This role standardizes training methods, maintains auditable records, and collaborates with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to maximize workforce capability and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities:

Training Development & Delivery

  • Program Management: Build and improve onboarding and existing employee training.

  • Instruction: Conduct classroom, practical, and hands-on production sessions.

  • Evaluation: Assess trainee competency through written tests and observations.

  • Remediation: Provide targeted coaching to close skill gaps and improve performance.

  • Cross-Training: Support workforce flexibility across multiple production programs.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Engineering and Quality to align training with current work instructions and specifications.

Program-Specific Training Support:

PGK Program, SAVO Program, PROX. Program:

  • Technical Assembly: Train on mechanical assembly processes, including hand/torque tools, fixtures, and specialized equipment.

  • Standards & Testing: Instruct on industry workmanship standards, soldering requirements, and the operation of production testers.

  • Specialized Processes: Support training for potting operations, wiring harness assembly, and the operation of automation and robotics systems.

  • Safety & Regulatory: Demonstrate and reinforce safe handling expectations for explosive materials used in production; ensure all operations adhere to established safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Training Administration & Compliance

  • Documentation: Create and maintain organized, auditable training files.

  • Tracking: Monitor certification status and notify leadership of upcoming expirations or retraining needs.

  • Audit Support: Provide accurate training records for internal, customer, and regulatory audits.

  • Metrics: Manage revision control of materials and report on training effectiveness and workforce readiness.

Qualifications & Skills:

Basic Requirements

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma and 5–7 years in manufacturing, with a focus on personnel training.

  • Knowledge: Proficiency in mechanical assembly, production documentation, and computer-based manufacturing systems.

  • Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Software: Microsoft Office Suite and electronic training recordkeeping systems.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Mobility:

  • Ability to move throughout manufacturing areas for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry training materials and equipment within established guidelines.

  • Ability to use personal protective equipment required in manufacturing environments.

  • May be required to work in environments involving soldering operations, chemicals, epoxies, pneumatic equipment, automation systems, and energetic materials while adhering to all applicable safety protocols.

Compliance: Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety protocols when working around manufacturing equipment and industrial materials.

Preferred Requirements

  • Certifications: Prior experience with J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 standards.

  • Specialized Skills: Experience with automation, conformal coating, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.

  • Safety Mindset: Experience supporting manufacturing operations involving sensitive materials while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Primary Level Salary Range: $53,500.00 - $89,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
