Position Summary

The Supervisor, System Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Asset oversees business partners who perform preventive maintenance and general repairs on all ground service equipment, and Ground Support Equipment Asset Specialists.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervises service and repairs of ground service equipment in either a shop or outside environment
  • Communicates all work-related events to management
  • Acts as a liaison between leadership and business partners to ensure standards are maintained
  • Conducts routine audits of business partner shops and work performed 
  • Documents all work performed during shift and prepares reports that track the service and repair of ground service equipment 
  • Develops, incorporates, and understands procedures and guidelines while managing the day-to-day operation
  • Identify and implement operational improvements 
  • Ensure adherence to airport and aircraft security regulations and report any anomalies
  • Ensure and maintain a safe environment and operation 
  • Partners with JetBlue’s Airports Business Planning Team to identify and implement GSE related improvements
  • Is accountable to senior management for ensuring the safety and security of ground handling operations
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are conducted in accordance with applicable federal regulations and standards
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a related field
  • Must be available for occasional overnight travel (40%)
  • Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Ability to perform under pressure and fixed time constraints
  • Must be able to use handheld radios and microphones to communicate with operations 
  • Working knowledge of manuals and reading schematics
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to give and receive verbal communication
  • Must be able to use handheld radios
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
  • For internal candidates, good standing in attendance performance and safety


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a Mechanic 
  • Airline deicing Ground Service Equipment experience
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in automotive field
  • Able to read, write, and speak Spanish
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Regular attendance and punctuality 
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

  • Subject to weather and elevated noise levels within airports

  • Works in both a shop and outside environment. Supervises and performs tasks in all weather conditions and in noisy environments
  • During the winter season, weather related events may require extra work hours
  • Able to work in a shift environment
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Available at all times during emergency situations


Physical Effort   

  • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and/or seventy to one hundred (70-100) pounds occasionally with the assistance of other people or tools and be in a position where bending, crouching, kneeling, etc. is needed.
