Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Project Manager - HR is a trained and qualified professional who uses Uniteds Envision Design Build Activate (EDBA) framework and Program Management Life Cycle (PMLC) methodology in partnering with the business. They enable teams to deliver assigned portfolios, programs, and projects with high quality in a timely manner with as-scoped benefits for our customers, frontline employees, and supporting groups. Effective execution in this role is critical to achieving Uniteds goal of using Portfolio Management & Project Delivery Capability as a strategic enabler on every project, with every team, every day. Assistant Project Managers - HR are an integral part of the project management team, overseeing both smaller projects and parts of larger projects. They are very hands-on in detail while also aware of strategic objectives and alignment of projects.

  • Provides logistical support for project-related meetings (agenda, minutes, timelines, task list, updates of all into master files)
  • Maintains and monitors key project deliverables (issues log, risk matrix, project status reports, business cases, post-project reviews, presentations)
  • Understands the roles and responsibilities of all project team members; may coordinate problem resolution
  • Assists team members and research operational and performance data to provide statistics, trends, and reporting that inform leadership steering and decision-making teams, and as assigned
  • Gathers business requirements and works with key stakeholders to develop Project Charter, analysis and document change requests
  • Provides leadership with insight as to any risks and issues potentially affecting the project/activity
  • Assesses project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and participating in collaborator meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner on single or multiple large, complex projects across multiple functions

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • 3+ years relevant work experience, including 2+ years managing projects
  • Demonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) practices/methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills, including with leveraging Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task competing priorities, demands, timelines, and coordination of resources to effectively maintain project plans and ensure alignment
  • Experience working with and creation of different process mapping techniques and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing
  • Experience working within Systems Development Life Cyle/Project Management Life Cyle (SDLC/PMLC) and a track record of delivery
  • Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating, delegating and motivating cross functional groups or activities
  • Exposure in planning change management/facilitation, communication, and training
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Project Management (PMI), or Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Demonstrated successful execution using SDLC or PMLC methodology
