As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities: This position is responsible for leadership of an operational team of Drug Abatement field representatives, and will support overall strategy and execution of drug and alcohol testing to regulatory and company requirements. This role will be a communicative leader, ensuring collaboration and engagement across their team and supported departments within the operation. This position will complete administrative responsibilities to ensure compliance to FAA/DOT requirements, ensuring accuracy in the execution of testing and record keeping. This position will be based at the Drug Abatement office, and will travel up to 20 to support team development and operational oversight.
- Drug Abatement Program Manager is responsible for day-to-day operation and monitoring of the 24/7 drug abatement program
- Upholds consistent standards to FAA/DOT regulations and Uniteds Drug & Alcohol policies, leading a team of Drug Abatement Field Representatives
- This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Drug Abatement and ensures team members maintain compliance to testing schedules based on established policies, procedures, and systems, while supporting development of team members
- Responsible for the accurate and efficient administration of United required DOT/FAA mandated drug and alcohol testing activities
- Provides appropriate and timely response to internal/external customers donors and appropriate leaders throughout the organization
- Interacts with medical review officer vendor, laboratory vendor, and Federal enforcement inspectors as required
- Maintains required documentation for Federal Aviation Administration audit and ensures records are audit ready
- This includes maintaining and monitoring certification credentials to demonstrate authority to conduct federally mandated testing services and all required audit documents
- Develop and support standard work and continuous improvement processes with team of Drug Abatement field representatives
- Perform special assignments, projects and specialty functions, including implementation of continuous improvement processes
- Complete and ensure audits of policy, procedures and records and identifies opportunities for improvement
- Maintains and updates the Drug Abatement Policy and Procedures Manual in accordance with team and company standards
- Perform oversight and ensure system integrity for compliance at all levels by engaging with teams in their local operation and maintaining credentials required to perform the field representative role
- Able to support drug and alcohol testing when necessary to ensure mandated goals are achieved

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): - Bachelors degree or related experience
- 2+ years leading a team of direct reports
- 2+ years airline experience
- New team members must be able to satisfactorily complete required training to function as a certified DOT Breath Alcohol Technician and Collector
- Knowledge of airport operations
- Ability to lead a team with solid conflict resolution and decision-making capability
- Strong oral and written communication skills are desired
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet productivity objectives whether working independently or in a team setting
- Must be attentive to details, organized, and have the ability to comprehend regulated materials
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and to professionally respond to changing priorities with minimum direct supervision
- Microsoft Windows/Office-proficient
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):- 1+ year Airport Operations, Inflight, or Flight Ops experience
- 1+ year experience leading a remote team
- 1+ year experience in training development and/or conducting workplace training
- 1+ year experience in vendor management
