We are recruiting for a Navigation Planning Manager to lead a team of Navigation Planning Officers and ensure the smooth operation of our flight planning system and route database.
Reporting to the Head of Navigation Delivery, you will oversee the maintenance of the flight planning route database, ensuring it is always updated with the latest AIRAC data and optimised for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for managing the team’s roster to ensure full shift coverage and high performance, addressing any route-related issues that may arise to avoid disruptions or excessive navigation fees.
In this role, you will take a hands-on approach to problem-solving, monitoring and resolving any discrepancies within the route database. Your oversight of pre-tactical flight planning will help minimise air traffic management disruptions, and you will regularly work with internal teams and external stakeholders like Eurocontrol to influence airspace design and improve route planning.
Leading the team, you will ensure consistent performance across shifts, providing mentoring and development opportunities for Navigation Planning Officers. You will collaborate with flight operations to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, you will work closely with performance analysts to continuously improve ATC flight planning and will independently manage multiple projects, providing clear and actionable insights.
You will also take responsibility for investigating and resolving Air Safety Reports related to Navigation Planning, ensuring full compliance with company policy. Throughout, you will work closely with HR and employee relations teams to maintain a high-performing team, and with the ICC management team to provide leadership and guidance whenever required.
What you need to do this role
You will have experience in flight planning, flight operations, or air traffic management environments, with proficiency in using LIDO and Eurocontrol systems. You will be familiar with the European Air Traffic Network, including traffic flow restrictions and route availability. Strong problem-solving abilities are essential, along with excellent communication skills to effectively relay objectives and feedback within the team.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate flexibility under pressure, the ability to manage resources and time efficiently, and the capacity to handle additional duties as needed. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to maintain positive team dynamics, are also key.
