About the role:
Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Group Risk, Safety & Security team as a Manager People Safety and Health to be based in Doha, Qatar.
As a Manager People Safety and Health, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with relevant local regulations and QR OHS Manual to maintain the safety for Qatar Airways staff, customers and facilities across Outstations. You will also be responsible for assisting line manager to further develop Occupational Health and Safety strategies and oversee the effective implementation of health and safety strategies and procedures across outstations.
Specific responsibilities for the role include:
Strategic Accountabilities
- Develop, implement and review emergency procedures in consultation with stakeholders to ensure apt emergency response.
- Develop OHS training programs and toolbox sessions for employees and contractors in partnership with Group Learning and Development to ensure development of the training repository.
- Develop, implement and monitor promotional campaign calendar across the network in coordination with the relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans to improve OHS across the QR network and coordinate the implementation with various stakeholders across the organization.
- Monitor implementation of the OHS strategy by analyzing the OHS strengths, weakness, opportunity and threats, industry best practice and advise line manager for areas of improvement.
- Develop and review documentation related to QR OHS in the network and provide feedback to the line manager for necessary actions.
Operational Accountabilities
- Assist line manager in day-to-day operations to ensure compliance against legislations and QR OHS standards.
- Establish company internal audit process including but not limited to planning, resource allocation, conducting audits, preparing audit reports identifying potential risks, recommending corrective actions to monitor compliance against legislations and QR OHS standards.
- Assist line manager in managing external audits to confirm adherence to regulations and certifications. Help line manager to manage a team of PSH specialists to ensure flawless OHS management across the network.
- Conduct/lead incident investigations in partnership with stakeholders to determine root causes to prevent future occurrences.
- Establish the department or teams’ objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
- Regularly evaluate the department or teams’ objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
- Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
- Responsible to ensure that employees at all levels understand work health and safety requirements and expectations through provision of relevant QR Group induction, information, instruction, training and supervision.
- Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to assure employee safety, security, legislative compliance and delivery of high-quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.
- Contribute towards Qatar Airways Group Environmental Objectives and targets and the implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System.

Qualifications
About you
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Relevant College or University qualifications to a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent/NEBOSH IGC.
- Minimum of 8 years of job-related experience.
- Prior experience of implementing safety, health and fire strategies and policies.
- Qualifications in fire safety and Lead Auditors ISO 45001:2018.
- Excellent understanding of Safety and Health principles and clear understanding of ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
- Good understanding of the principles of fire safety as detailed by the National Fire Protection Association [NFPA] guidance material.
- Excellent grasp of report writing with attention to business requirements.
- Excellent IT/PC Literate particularly in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
