ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
The Lead Software Developer drives the technical design, development, and maintenance of applications across existing and emerging technology platforms. This role delivers complex features and provides hands-on technical leadership, guiding and mentoring Developers including FTEs, contractors, and offshore partners. The position establishes and enforces coding standards and technical processes while ensuring alignment between business requirements and solution design. The Lead is accountable for development estimates, defect allocation, and the overall quality and timely delivery of technical work.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Write and deliver complex code and modules for new features debugs existing code and modules and as the technical lead guides less experienced Developers - FTEs Contractors Offshore Partner Resources - on such activities.
- Participate in the development of coding practices guidelines and all technical processes and ensure they are followed by less experienced Developers.
- Own the assignment and allocation of defects to appropriate Developers for fixing.
- Participate in gathering managing and analyzing requirements to design new application and system features.
- Responsible for overall estimates produced by less experienced Developers on a team for all technical work.
Qualifications
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record in designing and developing application features within complex environments.
- Proven ability to lead the technical delivery of large-scale projects, coordinating multiple technical workstreams to produce integrated solutions.
- Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), project methodologies, and standard engineering principles, with the ability to apply them effectively in practice.
- Strong expertise in solution design and architecture, including SOLID principles, architectural patterns, microservices, event-driven architecture (EDA), and secure-by-design practices.
- Proficiency in object-oriented and/or procedural programming (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, PL/SQL), including RESTful service development.
- Solid experience with database technologies and data design, ensuring performance, scalability, and integrity.
- Solid experience with cloud-native architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure, including containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, as well as exposure to AI capabilities like Azure AI Foundry or Amazon Bedrock.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead effort estimation for medium- to high-complexity initiatives, making sound trade-offs based on technical risk assessment.
- Advanced knowledge of version control and source code management, with experience establishing and maintaining development standards and practices.
- Strong business acumen and stakeholder awareness, with the ability to understand customer objectives and work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
