About the Position:

The Heavy Maintenance Manager (HMM) is a senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) who oversees all aspects of the Approved Maintenance Organization’s (AMO) heavy maintenance operations. This role involves direct supervision and guidance of inspection leads and AMEs, providing both technical expertise and resource support while fostering a safe and compliant work environment. The Heavy Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing costs, timelines, and quality control to meet customer requirements, ensuring consistent communication with both internal and external stakeholders. 


What you will do:

  • Coordinate inspections, assign resources, and ensure timely procurement of parts and tools.
  • Review discrepancies, corrective actions, and paperwork for quality and compliance.
  • Allocate resources, track progress, and update stakeholders on maintenance schedules and equipment needs.
  • Supervise maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety practices.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members, providing feedback and addressing performance issues.
  • Promote health and safety practices, oversee hangar conditions, and participate in Quality Assurance initiatives.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and alignment on shared goals.
  • Analyzes and reports on heavy maintenance activities to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Maintains compliance with safety regulations and company policies throughout all heavy maintenance operations.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance to conduct audits and reviews to uphold maintenance standards.


What you bring:

  • A College Diploma/University Degree in Aviation or Maintenance
  • Licensed AME (M2) with a minimum of ten years’ work experience including prior hands-on contact with corporate aviation and small to medium size airplanes in a heavy maintenance environment.
  • Five years of operations management experience including full people management responsibilities
  • Ability to forecast time consumption of different maintenance tasks in order to plan projects and provide accurate and estimated required labour.
  • Deep, broad technical aircraft management expertise and thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
  • Highly organized individual, able to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change and adapt to different requirements and conditions.
  • Comfortable using multiple software and different technological platforms to maintain track and record of maintenance.
  • Skilled in providing feedback, managing conflicts, and having difficult conversations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to successfully lead large teams, influencing, motivating, and engaging people to work together as a cohesive group.
  • Able to work flexible hours and available to support after-hours needs.
  • Able to obtain and retain a RAIC and AVOP passes.
