Reporting to a Planning and Design Manager, the Deployment Manager is responsible for project design and deployment leadership within NAV CANADA’s Technology Organization. The Deployment Manager is an integrator that works with matrixed, multi-disciplinary project teams having both internal and external stakeholders.
The Deployment Manager’s primary mandate is to ensure the successful deployment of assigned projects across Flight Information Regions (FIRs). The Deployment Manager owns a portfolio of deployment projects and will be responsible for all associated project management activities. The Deployment Manager may also be the primary coordination point for all FIR deployment activities on behalf of other Project Managers. The Deployment Manager has a small team of multi-disciplinary Engineers who, together with other Deployment Services Engineers and Specialists, will assist in executing all project design and coordination activities.
This role will also be assigned other responsibilities by the Planning and Design Manager such as Land Use Evaluations, EMI investigations, etc.Job Description

In this role you will:
- Be accountable for all deployment activities of assigned projects, including associated schedule and work coordination, financial management, and deployment status reporting.
- Manage a team of Project Engineers and/or Specialists who are responsible for site-specific designs and other project/deployment-related tasks.
- Represent Deployment Services at HO Stream Lead and PM meetings when required.
- Lead projects (end-to-end) as a Project Manager (within a matrix organization).
- May be required to manage designs through external consultants.
- Accountable for ensuring quality management and safety management processes are followed and corrective action plans are addressed.
- Manage the team’s performance using Key Performance Indicators.
- Provides mentoring and coaching to ensure the continued development of Project and Design Engineers.
- Responsible for the day-to-day performance of the Project and Design Engineers.
- Manage Land Use Engineering Evaluations as assigned.
- Manage EMI/EMC investigation support.
- Manage OPEX costs for their team.
- Review and Recommend Safety Management Plans.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Technology or equivalent.
- Project Management training and/or certification is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management or equivalent experience.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams.
- Budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and general financial management skills.
- Experience with planning and implementation of construction projects including management of constructability issues.
- Strong understanding of the aviation business and the role of the Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP).
- Strong understanding of the Portfolio Delivery Group Governance (BID Process, PSR process, Field Deployment Model, etc.) or general Project Management theory.
- Systems-level understanding of technology and infrastructure.
