Reports To: Director of Maintenance

CHI Aviation is seeking a skilled Part-Time Welder to support fabrication, repair, and modification work at our Howell, MI facility. This position assists with welding, metal fabrication, and shop support for aircraft-related components, ground support equipment, and other operational needs. The ideal candidate has strong welding skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a hands-on maintenance environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding, fabrication, and repairs on steel, aluminum, and other metals.
• Fabricate and modify brackets, mounts, frames, fixtures, and structural components.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, proper fit, alignment, and workmanship.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel as needed.
• Follow all company safety procedures and work instructions.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of two (2) years of welding or metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding preferred.
• Aluminum welding experience preferred.
• Ability to fabricate from drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred, but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
