About ATAC
Textron Systems - ATAC provides tactical flight training and adversary aggressor services for U.S. Navy, Marine and Air Force pilots, and is the only organization certified to train the Navy’s TOPGUN program. ATAC operates simultaneously across eight sites and two continents and comprises the world’s largest outsourced civilian, tactical airborne training organization and proudly provides the highest quality live training to Squadrons, Air Wings, and Battle Groups. ATAC was the first civilian organization authorized to train the USAF’s F-22 Raptors.
Summary:
The Chief of Maintenance (COM) manages the overall production and performance of ATAC’s Navy FJS maintenance team, ensuring safety, compliance, efficiency, and alignment with company objectives. This role oversees maintenance team operations across operating bases and detachments, developing a professional, safety-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement. The COM reports to the Senior Director of Maintenance (DOM) and plays a critical role in supporting ATAC’s operational goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintenance Management:
Lead, supervise, and manage all maintenance team efforts to meet company requirements across Navy FJS operating bases and detachments.
Oversee and maximize efficient phase maintenance operations for company Kfir and Hunter aircraft.
Act as the primary point of contact for safety reports and compliance with safety management system programs.
Program Efficiency:
Effectively manage maintenance information systems, such as AMS, ARS, RAMCO, reporting email systems, shared drives, and SharePoint.
Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring maximum value for the aircraft parts budget.
Manage program major parts and outside repair and maintenance budget, coordinating with company finance.
Quality and Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance practices comply with FAA, DoD, OEM, NAVAIR, and company regulations.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain standards through effective QA processes.
Reporting and Metrics:
Provide periodic reports to the DOM as needed.
Monitor, recognize, and recommend efficiency improvements in maintenance efforts.
Personnel Oversight:
Develop an employee-focused culture emphasizing safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Lead performance assessments for managed personnel.
Manage maintenance department incentive compensation.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Act as a liaison for maintenance supervision, coordinating detachment requirements with operations and Maintenance Managers.
Collaborate with Government Flight Representatives (GFRs), NAVAIR, FAA, and other regulatory and contracting organizations.
Implement and oversee safety and workforce improvement initiatives.
Other Duties:
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the DOM.
Primary Objectives:
Workforce Safety: Uphold and prioritize safety standards across the maintenance department.
Supervision Development: Foster effective supervision and management structures for maintenance teams.
Supply Chain Efficiency: Build and maintain an efficient supply chain for parts and materials.
Company Culture: Promote an employee-oriented culture emphasizing safety, quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Qualifications
Minimum 15 years aviation maintenance experience, with a minimum 5 years of formal aviation maintenance management experience.
Proven supervisory or management experience.
BS/BA degree preferred.
Military leadership experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience or training in:
AMS Management Systems
Risk Management
Human factors and decision-making processes
Accident prevention
Ability to maintain a security clearance.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in time management and able to work effectively in a team environment.
