Job Description:

The Aviation Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising the inspection, maintenance, preventive maintenance, service, and repair of company or managed aircraft. This role ensures that all regulatory requirements are met and that the aircraft is safe for flight. The ideal candidate must be certified to work on an Aircraft Challenger 605 and possess a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft Maintenance Management: Plan and control all aspects of aircraft maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Assurance: Ensure the aircraft is safe for flight and meets all maintenance-related safety management goals.
  • Liaison Role: Coordinate with non-company personnel or Approved Maintenance Organizations (AMOs) performing maintenance on company aircraft.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain aircraft maintenance records in accordance with U.S. regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company policy.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins affecting Flight Department aircraft are appropriately complied with.
  • Aircraft Safety: Remove from service any aircraft that is unsafe or does not comply with national regulatory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical Knowledge:

  • Certified to work on Aircraft Challenger 605
  • Familiarity with pertinent FAA regulations, manufacturer inspection requirements, maintenance manuals, and instructions for continuing airworthiness.
  • Strong emphasis on safety and precision, understanding the critical importance of accuracy in all maintenance activities.
  • Commitment to following checklists, admitting and correcting mistakes, and ensuring work is done correctly.

Management/Supervisory Skills:

  • Delegating tasks when appropriate, including to third-party vendors.
  • Developing teamwork and managing change within the maintenance team.
  • Measuring performance, including that of vendors, and setting standards.

 

Personal Development Skills:

  • Strong abilities in analysis, decision-making, creative thinking, and conflict resolution.
  • Effective interpersonal communication, time management, planning, and project management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and build a cohesive team.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and maintenance tracking software.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives recordkeeping software, and aircraft manufacturer online services.
  • Experience with aircraft engine performance tracking, uploading and downloading data to aircraft, and using onboard diagnostic systems.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturer websites for reporting usage, billing, and parts ordering.

Job Skills:

  • Expertise in troubleshooting aircraft systems and using hand and special tools as required.
  • Understanding of basic physics (temperature, pressure, torque) and determining airworthiness.
  • Adherence to safe work practices and strong communication skills.

Abilities:

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot aircraft systems.
  • Strong focus on quality control, safety, and situational awareness around operating machinery.
  • Ability to plan and organize work packages, maintain integrity, and ensure adherence to work procedures.
  • Commitment to not allowing unqualified individuals to override technical decisions.

Education & Training:

  • Trade or technical school education.
  • FAA A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) Certification.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification.
  • Familiarity with tools needed, including hand tools, special tools, and support equipment such as jacks, power carts, work stands, and towing equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee contract associates through third-party providers performing maintenance on aircraft (no direct reports).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull as required.
  • Capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, and crawling.
  • Must be able to talk, hear, and see, with exposure to extreme conditions.
  • Travel by air and ground as necessary.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel with the aircraft as needed.
