Job Description:

The UH-60 A/L Aircraft Mechanic 2 performs repairs and troubleshoots aircraft systems and malfunctions of avionics, navigation, electrical, and communications systems.

  • Install, remove, inspect, test, adjust, or repair avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, and navigation systems in aircraft.

  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring and/or cable on aircraft in adherence to established specifications.

  • Cuts and strips wire, insulates connections.

  • Assemble components such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools and soldering irons.

  • Inspect and troubleshoots to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjusts, repairs, realigns or replaces defective component or assembly.

  • Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation and modification of a wide variety of classes, models and series of aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and related systems.

  • Technical knowledge of the aircraft models and components/sub-assemblies assigned for maintenance, modification and repair.

  • Ability to assemble a variety of system assemblies, and sub-assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, tail boom assemblies, and the power train. Must be able to connect, mesh, align and adjust the system with one another and to determine the sequence of installation of these systems for proper coordination of the entire aircraft assembly process.

  • Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.

  • Able to trouble shoot and determine when faulty systems or assemblies can/can’t be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required. 

  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.

  • UH60A/L experience is a requirement.

  • UH60M Experience Preferred but not a prerequisite.

  • Valid FAA A&P or FCC License preferred, and Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 (MDS). 

  • All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years is required.

  • If No A&P or FCC License, must have the following experience: 

  • Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 MDS.

  • All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.

  • Must have a Valid US Passport, with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. Interim NACI approved to start. US Citizenship is required to obtain facility credentials and Public Trust Clearance.

  • Travel: As required in support of task order.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UH60M recent experience is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.

  • The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

  • Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
