Job Description:

The A&P Instructor is responsible for providing guidance, training, and mentorship to employees in the Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) apprentice program and newly hired A&P technicians. This role involves delivering instructional content, evaluating technician and apprentice performance, and ensuring that training aligns with FAA regulations and industry standards. The instructor will utilize their technical expertise to help technicians & apprentices develop the skills necessary to inspect, test, repair, and maintain aircraft effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured training sessions on aircraft maintenance, inspection, and repair according to FAA and manufacturer specifications.
  • Guide and mentor A&P apprentices and technicians, providing support and feedback to enhance their skills and understanding.
  • Evaluate technician & apprentice performance through practical assessments, written tests, and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials and curricula to reflect industry standards and technological advancements.
  • Instruct technicians and apprentices on the use of the Corridor computer system for documenting maintenance activities, including accurately completing required paperwork and work order details.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with general aviation airframes supported by Western Aircraft is required.
  • Strong instructional skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly required.
  • Prefer previous aircraft maintenance instruction experience.
  • Prefer one (1) year of Corridor computer system experience.
  • Prefer Gulfstream / Falcon / Embraer / Citation / Pilatus / Piper / King Air experience.

Education:

  • Airframe & Powerplant certifications required.
  • Teaching or instructional certifications are a plus.

Other Prerequisites

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to obtain airport-issued security badge.

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in an aircraft hangar environment with a moderate noise level.
  • The employee is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Must have the ability to climb and bend at the waist, crawl, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and work at heights, Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and 25 pounds overhead.
