Job Description:

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.  

In this position, the mechanic will be responsible to troubleshoot, teardown, clean, inspect and make necessary repairs, replace or recondition components and worn parts with minimum supervision, plan and organize jobs, controlling costs associated with repairs by following manufacture and company procedures, and order parts.

The candidate will need to effectively communicate repairs and or issues with management and other team members, promote and adhere to strict safety standards and maintain company assets in good condition as well as meet administrative requirements to complete required paperwork, including service reports, input of hours timely & accurately.

The ongoing responsibilities are as follows.

  • Schedule and perform regular & required system inspections of Angel Aviation aircraft fleet.
  • Maintain systems and equipment of all Angel Aviation aircraft fleet including, but not limited to, Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 175, Piper Seneca II, and PA-14.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Airworthiness Directives and Special Bulletins as issued by the FAA. 
  • Use gauges and diagnostic tests to detect malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace broken aircraft parts and maintain an inventory of aircraft parts as needed. 
  • Perform troubleshooting as needed. 
  • Keep maintenance and repair logs within compliance with FAA regulations. 
  • Use power and hand tools (e.g. cranes, grinders). 
  • Understand and apply guidelines from manuals and blueprints. 
  • Ensure compliance with regional safety regulations. 
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and electricians as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions may include: 

  • High noise levels
  • Outdoor working environment in inclement weather conditions
  • Use of ladders or scaffolds
  • Frequently lifting or pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, smelling. 
Job Requirements:

The final candidate will have many of the following experiences, skills, and personal attributes.

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Aircraft Mechanic or relevant training and educational experience. 
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
  • Current FAA-issued A&P mechanic certification preferred. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Available for travel to different locations on an occasional basis.

EDUCATION

High school diploma required. Completion of FAA-approved A&P course required. Useful subject experience includes mathematics, physics, chemistry, industrial drafting, auto and aircraft mechanics, machine shop, metal and wood shop, and welding. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, electricity charts, and instructional manuals.

LOCATION

This position will operate out of our Angel Aviation Alaska location. Angel Aviation Alaska is located at 2301 Merrill Field Drive in Anchorage, Alaska. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Aircraft Mechanics will report to the Director of Maintenance.

COMPENSATION

The expected pay range for an Aircraft Mechanic is $25-35 dependent upon experience and qualifications. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position will be paid on an hourly basis and is eligible for overtime based on applicable state laws.
