Job Description Summary

Uphold Daher-Kodiak Aircraft values and mission by collaborating across production, planning, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve documentation and resource issues, bridging departments to enable efficient manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include developing clear work instructions, maintaining and assisting with mBOM and routing records, and coordinating resource planning to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available for production needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Collaboration and Coordination
    • Interact with (and support) production team to address any documentation and resource issues to achieve company’s goals.
    • Bridge the gap between engineering, production and quality by ensuring all required elements are in place for the manufacturing process to run smoothly.
    • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Procurement to ensure alignment and to implement a robust and standardized method of manufacturing.
  • Work Instruction Development
    • Provide production with accurate work instructions and resources for efficient task execution, focusing on conformance with Type Design and FAA requirements as well as the ease of use for the end user.
    • Work closely with the training department to provide the necessary information for teaching the assemblers.
  • E10 Integration & Maintenance
    • Create, update and maintain mBOM.
    • Create, update and maintain routing (MoM).
    • Maintain organized and accessible documentation for audits and quality control purposes.
    • Configuration Management (options and modifications).
  • Resource Planning and Allocation
    • Material Requirement Planning (MRP): coordinate with procurement and inventory management to ensure materials and components are available on time.
    • Tooling, fixtures, shop-aid, equipment: ensure that necessary tools, equipment, fixtures, etc. are available and ready for use in the production process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile and other information related to the position

Qualifications:

  • At a minimum, Work Prep Technicians should hold a high school diploma or GED.

Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Technical Expertise – Demonstrates expertise in aviation manufacturing, proficiency in technical writing, and skill in documentation management. Exhibits competence in developing work instructions, ability in process mapping, and knowledge of configuration and modification management. Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and understanding specifications and technical documentation. Possesses strong data analysis and entry skills, along with robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Resource & Process Management – Demonstrates expertise in resource planning, proficiency in mBOM management, and skill in workflow design. Competent in ERP/MRP and inventory management, committed to continuous improvement, and excels in effective time management.
  • Coordination & Support – Exhibits strong collaboration skills, effective communication, and proficiency in training support. Skilled in project coordination with a focus on production, ensuring alignment and efficiency in team efforts.
  • Regulatory & Compliance – Proficient in PART 21 and PART 23 regulations, with a thorough understanding of certification processes and documentation. Knowledgeable in corporate specifications and demonstrates strong competencies in quality assurance practices.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Demonstrates strong teamwork abilities, adaptability, and keen attention to detail. Communicates with clarity and precision and excels in organizational skills to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
  • Software – Proficient in using NX (viewer mode), E10, Teamcenter, and Visual Factory, with strong competency in navigating and utilizing these tools effectively to support engineering and production processes.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; is occasionally required to stand and walk; is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; is regularly required to lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Proper lifting technique is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually very quiet. This position requires exposure to manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
