Job Description

Job duties/Description

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis CNC machines (e.g., vertical and horizontal machining centers, lathes, mills) using CAD/CAM software
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, 3D models, and technical specifications to create accurate CNC programs that align with production requirements.
  • Provide guidance to CNC technicians in setting up CNC machines and tooling, ensuring that programs are implemented correctly and efficiently. • Assist in machine calibration, tool selection, and verification of machine settings to ensure accuracy and repeatability in production.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programming or machining issues on the shop floor and make necessary adjustments to programs or machine settings. • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and cycle time reductions through analysis of machine performance and program efficiency.
  • Work closely with Process Engineers and production teams to ensure manufacturability of new parts into production.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Engineering team to ensure that parts meet specifications and quality standards, adjusting programs as necessary.
  • Review and validate CNC programs before production to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, tool settings, and process parameters for future reference and traceability.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC technology, programming software, and manufacturing trends, sharing knowledge with the team.

Experience

  • 5 years experience with CAD/CAM software, ERP systems, and other engineering tools
  • Virtual machine environment simulation
  • 3-5 years experience working with Mill Turn and 5 axis machines
  • 2 years experience in aerospace industry

Specific knowledge

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and materials.

• Familiarity with CNC control systems (e.g., Siemens, FANUC, Haas, Mazak).

• 3D modeling and CAD software proficiency (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) for interpreting and translating designs into machine instructions.

• Precision and accuracy in programming and machine setup to ensure high-quality output.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve programming and machining issues on the shop floor.

• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, machinists, and production teams.

• Willingness to collaborate and share knowledge with others to achieve production goals.
