Job Description:

The Reliability, Maintainability and System Safety (RMS) Engineer is responsible for employing both theoretical and practical tools to ensure the reliability, safety, and capability of aircraft components, subsystems, and systems. The RMS Engineers primary task is to identify potential reliability, safety, and maintainability issues early in the aircraft’s lifecycle and support ongoing improvements to enhance overall aircraft performance.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the demonstration of compliance with aircraft standards and safety requirements via review and/or preparation of System Safety Analysis certification reports.
  • Complete detailed reliability design development and assessments including Functional Hazard Assessments, Particular Risk Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis, Common Cause Analysis.
  • Support the development of instructions for Continued Airworthiness and Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL).
  • Support the safety assessment process of in-service aircraft by preparing qualitative and quantitative analysis of service experience using methods including Weibull Analysis, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Sensitivity Analysis.
  • Be responsible for the successful execution of R&M deliverables for new development project while supporting the needs of aircraft fleet in service and aircraft production.
  • Participate in design reviews, customer meetings, technical and business-related workshops.
  • Champion the performance and development of junior engineers, designers, project managers.
  • Drive continuous improvement and demonstrate exemplary technical leadership

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in Aerospace Reliability & Safety.

Skills

  • Familiarity with Reliability, Safety, and Maintainability design, analysis, and testing concepts.
  • In-depth understanding of the Aircraft and System Safety Assessment process.
  • Familiarity with aircraft design and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with aircraft systems (Electrical and Avionics Systems, Flight Controls, Landing Gear systems, etc.) and operational documentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant Part 23 and Part 25 regulations and related industry guidance material, including, but not limited to: FAA AC 23/25.1309-1, SAE ARP5150, ARP5151, ARP4754 and ARP4761.
  • Knowledge of MSG-3 scheduled maintenance program development.
  • Knowledge of MMEL (TP9155E) requirements and utilization methodology in operation.
  • Knowledge of the development assurance processes for aircraft design is an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety assessment methodologies related to cyber security is an asset.
  • Proficient with software tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams), CAFTA, FaultrEASE.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently in all professional situations.
  • You are excited and motivated by the challenges of design, manufacturing, and support of aircraft.
  • Travel may be required.
