Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and diverse team environment in Orlando, FL. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of assigned features on a SATCOM system.
What You’ll get to Do:
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
- Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 years of direct relevant experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 10 years of direct relevant experience with Masters degree; Minimum of 8 years of direct relevant experience with PhD
- Must currently hold a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with satellite communications technology system architecture, interfaces, protocols, control, planning, equipment, concept of operation, troubleshooting, policies, and/or procedures
- Experience with Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Trend Analysis and Anomaly Resolution Subsystem/Wideband SATCOM Operations Management System (WSOMS) Mediated Interoperability Infrastructure (WSTARS/WMII)
- Experience with DOORS
- Experience with JIRA
- Experience in gathering and managing requirements, leading exercises or demonstrations
- Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures
- Interface with program and customer personnel
- Experience performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge base of Wideband SATCOM Operational Management System (WSOMS) subsystems
- Knowledge base of commercial SATCOM systems
- Experience or familiarization with analysis of satellite events, troubleshooting anomalies, outages, interference, technical feasibility, interoperability
- Familiarization with DoD systems and subsystems (e.g. C2ISR platforms, SATCOM, data links).
- Familiarization with computer networking and cyber security principles and practices
- Understanding of radio frequency (RF) theory as it relates to communications (including satellite link performance parameters, link budgets and interference calculations)
- • Knowledge of advanced satellite waveforms and modem operations.
- Experience working on Agile programs and methodology
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools
- Detailed-oriented with strong analytical skills
Salary Range: $142,500 - $213,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
