Senior Quality Engineer to support and lead Quality Engineering / Assurance activities for Magellan Aerospace products and processes. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, driving continuous improvement, and acting as a technical Quality leader across Quality, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams. The ideal candidate has deep experience in regulated environments and a strong track record of problem-solving, audits, and customer interface.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering / Assurance activities throughout the product lifecycle, from design and development through production and delivery
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (AS9100, NADCAP FAA/EASA, customer-specific requirements)
• Develop, review, and approve Quality plans, Inspection plans, FAI documentation (AS9102), and control plans
• Deputise for the Quality Engineering / Assurance Manager and Quality Engineers as and when required by business need
• Maintain all departmental reports, verify reports and KPI’s submitted by Quality Engineers and report any discrepancies
• Support the customers in all aspects of Quality, (FAI’s, Complaints, Contract reviews etc.)
• Act as an escalation point for the Quality Engineers in dealing with Quality issues, outstanding or overdue NCR’s (Customer specific RCCA’s) and liaise with the Magellan Supplier Quality team as required
• Maintain / Update the functional KPI boards with relevant data / information
• Actively support and contribute to the business continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing projects such as applying the principles of 6S and Kanban to their work area and take shared responsibility for maintaining the Quality function’s waste mitigation / elimination projects
• Positively support teamwork and circulation of experience within the workforce, including but not limited to the Quality, Operations, Engineering, Project Management and Supplier Quality teams
• Work with a minimum amount of supervision and maintain a good level of productivity
• Work in a safe manner in compliance with the company Health & Safety policy. Report and log Health & Safety incidents that occur
• May occasionally be required to represent the company at external audits and customer liaisons
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA, CAPA) using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA
• Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits; act as a primary Quality representative during audits
• Mentor junior Quality Engineers and provide technical guidance across the organization

Position Requirements

Academic:

• Engineering apprenticeship or higher education qualification in a technical subject, with a minimum qualification of HNC/HND or equivalent technical / leadership experience

Professional Accreditations:

• Internal / External Audit Qualification

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position within the aerospace or heavily regulated industry sectors

Other skills/Abilities

Skills:

• The jobholder will require a fair level of IT skills including basic understanding of Microsoft applications such as spreadsheet construction, and the creating of word documents. There is also a requirement to use manufacturing integrated systems (MRP)
• The job requires the individual to have a high level of proficiency and communication skills
• The job holder will be experienced in AS9100, NADCAP and preferably be skilled as an internal / external auditor against these standards

• The job requires good communications ability for the purpose of providing, giving and exchanging information to other employees, departments and people external to the organisation
