Our Engine Control Systems (ECS) business unit in Windsor Locks, CT is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Engineering team within our Electro-Mechanical Interface Devices (EMIDS) group. As the Senior Project Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of EMIDS for ECS programs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will manage all technical aspects of electromechanical devices that interface electronic controls with mechanical systems. This role offers an opportunity to drive the engineering design process in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, while contributing to the success of innovative and high-impact projects.

What You Will Do

  • You will coordinate all necessary internal, supplier, and customer activities, including but not limited to project planning, resource allocation, progress tracking, and communication with all stakeholders.

  • Perform System and component requirements review and compliance assessments for EMIDS.

  • Lead design activities, including the creation of drawings, specifications, and summary reports.

  • Lead investigations using Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA).

  • Coordination of Engineering Change activities with Collins Aerospace and suppliers.

  • Interface with suppliers and members of the technical design team to lead all aspects of the design, certification, validation, and integration of complex assemblies.

  • Lead regular meetings with the cross functional IPD team, take action items, and publish meeting minutes and actions.

  • Provide communication to Engineering and business unit leadership as necessary.

  • Support process certification and production incorporation.

  • Create and regularly update detailed MS Project schedules; assist in the creation of risk and mitigation plans and execute tasks in alignment with engineering standard work tools.

  • Review supplier technical capabilities.

  • Support cost and weight reduction activities.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the development of Engineering Standard Work.

  • Align supplier technology readiness with Collins advanced control systems plans.

  • Mentor and train junior engineers on best engineering practices and Standard Work.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Basic Understanding of EMIDS and EVMS reporting tools.

  • Experience in new product development from component level design to verification and validation

  • Strong planning and execution skills with ability to multi-task to meet challenging schedule and budget

  • Ability to work across organization -- team members, suppliers, and customers

  • Highly motivated, independent, creative, possess a sense of ownership and urgency and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, VISIO, PowerPoint, and Project

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
