The Opportunity
The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities.
As we continue to accelerate the development program, and expand the aircraft flight envelope through the test program, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for a Senior Airworthiness Engineer - who will contribute to shaping the program towards an airworthy product.
This role is ideally based in Brisbane CBD, however, applicants from Williamtown, NSW and Adelaide, SA are welcome to apply as well.
As a Senior Airworthiness Engineer within BDA, you will be brought into an airworthiness team that participates at the global level. We have a close-knit team that works across our platforms at BDA with reach into our UK and US operations. In this role you will have exposure and the ability to work on a number of exciting programs and projects across the breadth of Boeing, which more immediately would focus on the MQ-28 Ghost Bat.
About you

- Experience carrying out certification activities under civil or military regulatory frameworks.
- Undertaking JARUS SORA Operational Safety Objective (OSO) assessments, including those related to initial airworthiness, continuing airworthiness and flight operations
- Generating data supporting UAS Operating Permit application for Developmental Flight Test Operations
- Providing support in obtaining approval for foreign operations, including supporting Boeing Flight/Test Mission Assurance Readinesss Reviews (F/TMARR) approval
- Support preparation for Initial MQ-28 Airworthiness Board
- Interfacing with joint “Transition Team” for RAAF Operations for Airworthiness
- Contributing to MQ-28 Flight Manual preparation and assessment against airworthiness requirements
- Providing input and analysis to design decisions related to platform airworthiness within applicants area of engineering specialty
- Performing assessments of compliance against relevant airworthiness standards within applicants area of engineering specialty and authority
- Knowledge of system safety interactions within the airplane certification process
Skills Criteria
- The desire to work within a team that addresses both technical and business challenges
- A tertiary degree with experience working in airworthiness, certification or design of aircraft and their components/systems. We encourage all levels of experience to apply.
- Familiarity with aircraft design, systems, operation, maintenance, and repair
- Ability to understand/interpret, research, and analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Familiarity with globally recognised airworthiness standards, certification processes, and associated Guidance Material.
- Excellent communication skills that enable you to influence outcomes in a team environment
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain a national security clearance (e.g. NV1)
