The C-17 International Field Services organization are seeking an experienced individual to support the Site Leader and work closely with the Maintenance Management team in the implementation and administration of the Safety Management System (SMS) at Papa Air Base, Hungary. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and sustaining a Positive Safety Culture, investigating and managing safety reports, and facilitating and supporting the organizations safety risk management strategy.
On-site working is required, with travel within Europe expected. Some overseas travel may also be required.
Key responsibilities:
Lead Safety Investigations that focus on Human Performance Influencing factors and Just Culture principles
Ensure Safety investigations and occurrence report management are completed in a timely manner and support the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Party safety and audits
Facilitate of Hazard Working Groups to aid in the identification and mitigation of organizational hazards
Lead Site Safety Action Group meetings to ensure the SMS remains effective
Perform Safety Promotion and feedback to continuously improve the organizations safety culture (including feedback to reporters)
Deliver SMS training for all C-17 on-site staff
Act as the interface with all stakeholders to share and collaborate as required
Support the safety impact assessment of all relevant organizational changes in support of change management processes
Basic qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field from an accredited institution
Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience
Minimum 5 years aircraft maintenance/operational experience
Previous experience in the application of aviation safety policy and SMS requirements in an aviation context
This position requires the ability to obtain NATO or US security clearance
Preferred qualifications
Qualified Safety Investigator with experience in conducting safety investigations
Experience at developing/creating management system
Training in Safety Risk Management and experience in using common risk management tools (e.g. Bow-Ties, Risk Registers, safety management software etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite is also an asset
Trained to be a Human Factors Training Facilitator
Experience in occurrence report management and trending
Able to effectively identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement to strategies, processes and project plans
Experience in working across multiple functions to create relationships and understanding to progress difficult issues
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, technical competency, and skills with project management concepts/tools
This position requires the ability to obtain NATO or US security clearance.
Important: The employment will be contingent on the candidate’s ability to satisfy all labor and immigration formalities of the country.
