Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Roles Overview:
- Apply your knowledge in heat transfer and thermal management to develop innovative aerothermal/mechanical solutions for GE Aerospace product portfolio
- Develop ideas and concepts, and mature technologies through various readiness levels (TRL), to improve thermal management for GE Aerospace products
- Deliver on technical projects meeting schedules and budgets, implement plans with minimal guidance to meet technical requirements and document results
- Participate in a team on multi-generation technology programs to enable future design advancements, while independently executing tasks leveraging your technical skills
- Network and collaborate with GE Aerospace Business and Research team members to identify opportunities for innovation, build plans and execute on technical projects
Ideal Candidate:
Should have experience in heat transfer and thermal management, at various levels of fidelity
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Heat Transfer/Thermal Management OR M.S in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Heat Transfer/Thermal Management, with at least 2-5 years of experience in industrial research
- Demonstrated fundamental knowledge in computational heat transfer / thermal management, evidenced by advanced graduate coursework and research
- Demonstrated ability and experience in Thermal and flow Modeling, Simulation & Analysis
- Experience with commercial software (Ansys FLUENT, CFX, Icepak) or in-house code development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
Desired Qualification:
- Design experience in heat transfer and thermal management, at various levels of fidelity
- Experimental heat transfer in addition to computational heat transfer skills
- Advanced computational or experimental skills from “start-to-finish” to provide physics-based insights to guide design and innovation
- Research in any one of the following areas: power electronics cooling for hybrid electric applications, gas turbine heat transfer, heat exchanger technology, thermal & energy systems modeling
