PURPOSE:

The Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality control systems and protocols for the organization. Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure world-class quality standards are developed, maintained, and adhered to.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Act as a liaison between customer and company in the establishment of quality standards and resolution of issues related to quality.

  • Review purchase order and blueprint notes and specifications for all special requirements applicable to the raw material casting.
  • Assures that all special requirements are part of the manufacturing process and inspection plans.
  • Coordinate requirements with materials test, non-destructive test and casting layout supervision, and coordinate and bring together all the test results, and associated paperwork required for manufacturing process sheets, inspection method sheets and nondestructive testing requirements.
  • Manage change processes, coordinating with all departments and functions to make revisions as necessary to assure conformance to purchase order and blueprint requirements.
  • Conduct documented system and job audits covering all plant departments and follow up on all required corrective action requests.
  • Establish priorities, work with Engineering, Quality Control and independently concentrate attention to “high risk” areas such as weld repair, surface blending at nondestructive testing, pre-finishing, etc. Review job routing, instruct personnel and establish written controls as required.
  • Visit customer facilities on quality related issues, as required.
  • Perform any other associated duties as directed by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Manufacturing Technology discipline; consider education and experience.
  • Min. 6 years of quality engineering related experience.
  • Knowledge of investment casting technology, processes and manufacturing methods are preferable.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Quality Manager.


SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting of heavy castings up to 33 lbs. and working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
