Specific Accountabilities
- Provide technical expertise in the use of Aerospace Manufacturing Processes for the maintenance and repair of gas turbine engines.
- Define process compliance requirements and support the OEM repair approval process.
- Provide day-to-day production support for assigned processes.
- Write and review technical documentation including Engineering Reports, Company Procedures, and Work Instructions.
- Direct technical equipment troubleshooting activities and define equipment operational readiness.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Production Engineering, Repair Development, and Facilities Teams to plan and perform component repair trials.
- Lead the installation and commissioning of process equipment including facility planning activities.
- Review requirements, prepare technical specifications, and perform cost benefit analysis for the procurement of capital equipment.
- Provide qualifications, support, training, and problem resolution to Technicians.
- Liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites regarding component repairs, inspection and compliance.
- Complete Special Projects which may involve travel to support worldwide Enterprise Manufacturing facilities.
- Lead Continuous Improvement Projects and ensure critical safety and environmental requirements are upheld.
- Participate in projects as a team member and/or team project leader.
- Carry out special duties as assigned.
General Accountability
- Recognize and understand flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Participate in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Drive best practice and business improvement opportunities through an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals.
Technical Requirements
- 1+ year experience in an Aerospace OR Manufacturing Engineering Environment
- Thorough knowledge of Aerospace/Manufacturing processes with a focus on Heat Treatment, Brazing, and Welding.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
- Working knowledge of Metallurgical Evaluation, Non-Destructive Evaluation, Thermal Spray & Coatings, Chemical Processes including Stripping, Cleaning, and Plating.
Preferred Skills
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience teaching, training, and qualifying Technicians or Engineers in the mechanical aspects of Aerospace Manufacturing.
Education/Training
- University degree in mechanical, industrial, aerospace, chemical, or metallurgical engineering; or College Diploma in Manufacturing Technology; or equivalent
- In jurisdictions governed by a regulatory body or with an association governed by local legal requirements, registration is required.
