Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Health and Safety Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is fulltime on-site located in St. Augustine, FL.
The Principal Health and Safety Engineer will play a lead role in the execution of various elements of the sites health and safety management system. The position will contribute to maintaining a safety culture aimed at eliminating hazards, reducing injuries and illnesses, and the continuous improvement of our processes. This position requires the individual to work closely and positively interact with a variety of different stakeholders in an engineering and manufacturing design setting.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions:
Responsibilities:
Provide health and safety expertise to maintain established successful programs
Knowledge in ISO 45001 compliance and expectations preferred
Identify, design and implement creative programs, solutions and communication tools.
Audit and inspect facilities for compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations; develop practices to ensure that everyone from the shop floor to management is engaged in creating and maintaining a safer workplace.
Conducts qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments to include exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents.
Completes industrial and office ergonomic evaluations to reduce risk factors that cause musculoskeletal disorders.
Support the sites environmental, safety, health and fire protection programs.
Work with the medical team on medical surveillance programs regarding IH sampling and data.
Advise management of accident prevention measures through continuous review of conditions and behaviors; participate in designing improvements and solutions.
Support managers and supervisors with accident response, investigation and root cause analysis; be part of any solutions and improvements.
Prioritize resources and demonstrate effective time management to accomplish a broad spectrum of activities in a dynamic environment.
Adhere to established company values, practices, policies and procedures at all times.
Basic Qualifications: Principal Health and Safety Engineer
Bachelor of Science Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or a related field and Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety OR A Masters Degree in Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or a related field and Minimum of 3 years of experience in occupational health and safety.
Thorough knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NEC, NFPA regulations and standards.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant work experience in an aerospace or laboratory environment.
CIH Certified Industrial Hygienist
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint programs.
Salary Range: $84,200 - $126,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
