As a Senior Engineer serving as the Project Cyber Lead for the FlightHub and MultiLink product teams, you will play a critical role in shaping the cybersecurity strategy and ensuring robust implementation across these connected aviation solutions. The FlightHub and MultiLink teams at Collins Aerospace work in tandem to deliver cutting-edge solutions for enhancing flight operations and data integration across the aviation industry. In this role, you will lead the cybersecurity initiatives across the entire product lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and maintenance. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and risk mitigation to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of these applications.
As the Project Cyber Lead, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems engineers, product managers, and quality assurance professionals, to embed cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance within product development. This role requires expertise in software and network security, secure coding practices, threat modeling, and risk assessment. Additionally, you will lead the creation and implementation of cybersecurity training for team members, staying updated on the latest industry standards and cyber threats to protect critical data and customer assets.

This role is Hybrid (3 days/week on site) based in either Annapolis, MD or Cedar Rapids, IA.
What You Will Do:
Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to safeguard the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of FlightHub and MultiLink applications, conducting threat assessments, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation across product lifecycles.
Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, and product managers to embed cybersecurity best practices and ensure compliance with aviation industry regulations and standards.
Guide secure coding practices and conduct code reviews to proactively address vulnerabilities, implementing encryption, authentication, and access control measures.
Oversee the ingestion and standardization of large-scale flight data across MultiLink’s Pipeline/Streaming Service, ensuring optimal data quality and integration across various systems.
Establish secure logging and monitoring solutions for the Archive Service, ensuring comprehensive data tracking and archiving across FlightHub and MultiLink.
Continuously research and implement new cybersecurity measures to stay ahead of emerging threats, enhancing the security and resilience of aviation data solutions.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
Experience in cybersecurity principles, such as secure coding practices, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and risk management, ideally within a high-security industry such as aviation, defense, or finance.
Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, DO-326A) and regulatory compliance requirements for data protection in critical systems.
Experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, including code reviews, encryption, and authentication.
Experience implementing and managing security solutions across cloud and on-premise environments, such as cloud security architectures, network security, and secure data transmission protocols.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Master’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, with specific coursework or certifications in advanced cybersecurity practices.
Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM, showcasing expertise in information security, ethical hacking, and risk management.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure secure and compliant software development practices.
Experience in the aviation industry or with connected systems, especially knowledge of aviation data standards (e.g., ARINC, ADS-B, ACARS) and aviation cybersecurity regulations (e.g., RTCA DO-326A/ED-202A).
Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and related security services, with experience in designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud architectures.
Hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices and security automation tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, static and dynamic code analysis, and container security.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
