Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is seeking a Multi-Skill Engineering Manager to manage the Test, Software, and Electronics (TSE) team in Sylmar, CA.
This TSE Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the engineering group that develops, implements, and optimizes our TSE processes which are part of the factory efforts around manufacture of solar cells and diodes up through solar panels and wings. The testing includes thermal chamber testing at atmospheric pressure and vacuum as well as acoustic testing and these tests are conducted on-site and at vendor locations. The group serves the testing of these components as well as the software and hardware to perform the tests. The group also encompasses the automation of manufacturing operations that are advancing our factory.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards. The manager will also be responsible for mentoring team members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Due to the production nature of this work, this manager will need the ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends when necessary.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages employees performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines
Maintains the TSE teams’ s focus on productive and efficient solar cell production
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
Manages, develops, and motivates employees

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science OR 9+ years of relevant engineering experience
Experience using basic MS Office software tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience in working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Knowledge of linear circuits and electronic test equipment
Direct experience within electrical test operations
Experience with statistical process control
Lean Six Sigma certifications highly desired. Green Belt minimum preferred with ideal candidate possessing Black Belt or higher
Active Secret Clearance
Experience leading root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts
Experience in developing/debugging software; ideally VBA, LabView, SQL, Python, C/C++/Dynamic C, or similar
Excellent communications skills, verbal and written
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners
Master of Science in an engineering discipline
Previous management experience
Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust
Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes
Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams
Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance
Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members

Summary pay range: $151,300 - $204,700
