Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Manufacturing Engineer Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The selected candidate will serve as a functional technical manager of our Manufacturing Engineering team, supporting critical tasks such as process design, planning, production support, and respond to production challenges related to cutting-edge military aerospace manufacturing (e.g. composite layup, cure, machining, assembly, metallic assembly, coatings, and subsystems). The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance. The ideal candidate has several years of prior technical experience in aerospace composites manufacturing and assembly work and has prior project leadership and/or personnel management experience. The job requires approximately 70 direct technical work and 30 managerial. This on-site position is located at our Beavercreek, Ohio facility and is for the 9-80A day shift; Monday - Friday, with every other Friday off to enjoy personal time. Managerial Key Roles and Responsibilities (~30):
- Support coordination of daily activities, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Mission Assurance to drive specific tasks
- Management of department budget and direct labor rates
- Participation in Material Review Board, Engineering Change Board, Process Change Board, and participate and periodically manage yearly capital expense projects
- Support spaneting and proposal activities relevant to manufacturing opportunities
- Conduct 1:1 meeting, and periodic performance reviews with direct reports
- Manage staffing decisions (recruiting/hiring/termination) to meet business needs
- Lead multifunctional teams to solve production issues
Technical Key Roles and Responsibilities (~70):
- Develop manufacturing process structure – instructions, materials, tooling, equipment, and software required to fabricate products
- Create and maintains MBOMs
- Identify process improvements, capture feedback from Operations, and incorporate into the manufacturing process planning
- Create and maintain the planning work instructions
- Review design and specification changes and ensure they are captured in the process
- Promptly respond to technical issues that arise on the production floor utilizing work instructions, design models, and specifications
- Clarify work instructions to Operations and craft modifications as needed
- Get involved in MRB repairs and special processes to assist Operations as needed
- Perform and lead PFMEA and RCCA investigations
Travel can vary but is typically very minimal.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field of study and 9 years professional work experience in relevant aerospace composite manufacturing design and assembly OR Master’s Degree and 7 years professional work experience in relevant aerospace composite manufacturing design and assembly.
- Prior professional work experience with composites, adhesives, curing, and assembly.
- Experience with using curing equipment such as autoclaves and ovens.
- Experience with design and manufacturing of both compose and metallic tools.
- Familiarity with machining of composites and metallics.
- Experience with reading engineering drawings.
- Experience with metrology tools and usage.
- Prior experience with manufacturing planning (i.e.- work instruction).
- Prior experience as a Liaison / Floor production engineer.
- Experience in project leadership and functional personnel management
- Experience with root cause and corrective action processes (RCCA, PFMEA, Fault Tree, etc.)
- Experience of providing labor and material estimates to proposal leads.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active SECRET clearance with existing or prior Special Access Programs (SAP).
- 10 years’ experience in aerospace composites and assemblies.
- Knowledgeable of chemical coating and etching processes.
- Fluent with SAP or similar MRB systems, MES or similar EWI systems, PLM systems.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as NX, CATIA, AutoCAD.
- Prior experience with CAM software.
- GD&T experience in aircraft manufacturing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and with external customers; cross‑functional collaboration is critical to success in this role.
Salary Range: $103,700 - $155,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
