The Consulting Engineer for Engine Control Systems in the Chief Engineers Office will lead industry benchmarking and a gap analysis of GE Aerospace processes versus ARP4754, ARP4761, & MIL-HDBK-516C. The Consulting Engineer will participate in industry groups driving these aerospace practices and will develop a strategic plan to update GE Aerospace processes consistent with these practices.In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, will manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and will contribute to the overall business strategy. Responsibilities
As the Consulting Engineer, you will:
- Serve as a recognized technical expert in a design discipline, components or component systems, and provides consultation to management, all design organizations, and supplier organizations
- Partner with Engine Systems, Flight Safety and Airworthiness & Certification on process improvements
- Collaborate with peers on MBSE implementation as it adjoins these process improvements
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experience engineers
- Drive the NPI Tollgate process and consistent usage across all the design teams for NPI and Class 1 CIDs
- Develop and implement training modules in certification/qualification as necessary
- Participate in cross-functional projects and present outcomes to business leaders around part certification.
- Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities.
- Participate, present and/or review in technical and program reviews from certification/qualification point of view.
- Engage in the Controls technical community and controlled title pyramid
- Consult with and support the Chief Engineer’s Office in the execution of technical goals of the office
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering capacity
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Desired Characteristics
- Masters Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Experience with Industry recognized best practices for means of compliance for commercial certification and/or military qualification
- Experience with NPI certification / qualification, technology development, and legacy product support
- Demonstrated Control Systems expertise
- Understand the qualification basis for legacy hardware/systems that are common with the NPI programs
- Ability to work on continuous improvement of processes, including engine control systems certification, TOPS8D, Safety and Quality
- Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
- Interest in being a self-starter with a focus on problem solving and driving solutions
- Highly motivated, passionate and exceptional communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
