Job Title: Automation Co-op

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: Sr. Automation Engineer

SUMMARY

The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their computer science or engineering education. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for various projects.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and test control algorithms and software.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting and debugging of control systems.
  • Support the integration of hardware and software components.
  • Conduct research and analysis to improve existing control systems.
  • Will work with controls and automation equipment.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.
  • Student will attend a weekly departmental meeting.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and review sessions.
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or MATLAB a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

  • Co-ops will be paid $24.00 hour /40-hours a week
  • Given top priority for future co-op rotations and full-time positions.
