Description
Bell is looking for an avionics technician who is motivated to join the Avionics and Mechanical Laboratories team and support the development of new avionics products and test platforms.
Responsibilities
Participate in the preliminary and detailed design, manufacturing and commissioning of test benches, as well as in the development of procedures for the use of avionics system integration laboratories. The technician will also be required to provide technical support (troubleshooting) during the use of benches and contribute proactively to the improvement of test methods and processes.
Provide support to other engineering functions including systems engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, system safety, test and verification, modeling and simulation, and flight testing.
Education Requirements
• A college diploma in avionics
Position Requirements
• Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 10years in the development of avionics test benches and integration, aircraft systems, and/or motor vehicle systems.
• Experience in low voltage and low power electrical design, including the creation of electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system architecture diagrams for test systems using specialized software.
• Familiarity with the avionics architecture of a helicopter and/or aircraft.
• Experience with various methods of digital, discrete, and analog data acquisition.
• Familiarity with aeronautical communication protocols such as ARINC429 and MIL-1553, other protocols such as CANbus and Ethernet, and standards RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485.
• Ability and interest in manual work (wiring, microelectronics, assembly of low voltage electrical components).
• Familiarity and interest in computer programming oriented towards the development of automation tools.
• Ability to organize and work independently and in a structured manner.
• Ability to work and communicate with a diverse team of engineers and technologists.
Considered as assets:
• Experience with CHS, CATIA, and/or Altium design software.
• Experience in microelectronics and printed circuit design.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrument calibration methods (load cells, pressure sensors, position sensors, etc.).
• Familiarity with programmatic user interface (GUI) design.
• Experience with most or all of the following software development tools:
o NI LabVIEW
o Python
o C/C
Any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.
