JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Operations Manager, and in hight coordination with the crew chiefs, this position is responsible for; the efficient execution of avionic installations and alterations performed under the repair station FAA certificate. The Senior Avionics specialist will work with the Crew chiefs, Sales Team, Engineering Team, Planning Team, and Procurement Teams to ensure all avionics projects are planned, prepared for prior to aircraft or customer arrival. Assists as required with troubleshooting, programming, and installations as needed. Works directly with vendors in a liaison capacity/support role for Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Sales.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A & P / FCC license preferred. Can apply for repairmen certificate.
- At least five (5) years direct experience on corporate/business turbojet aircraft.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skillset.
- Possesses working knowledge of avionics factory modifications, service bulletins, inspection programrequirements, vendor information and all other procedures, publications and general informationpertaining to avionics and electrical systems.
- Project management skills
- Be familiar with our Quality Control system and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to weather conditions such as cold, heat, wind, precipitation. Exposure to dust, hazardous chemicals and elevated noise level. Ability to wear hearing protection, ability to wear respirator, frequently and safely climb stairs and ladders. Ability to work in confined spaces, ability to work with heights and wear a disposable mask to mitigate dust.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Ensures that the entire crew represents the Company, presenting a professional manner and appearance in day to day contact with customers, guests, and co-workers.
- Communicates with Project Manager to acquire approval for any additional work, costs or overtime prior to accomplishing work.
- Ensures complete communications to all shifts working on the project.
- In coordination with the crew chiefs, supervise and train Avionics, Electric and Wire technicians to insure smooth, efficient workflow.•Instruct technicians in proper procedures and techniques of installing and troubleshooting systems, and performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Recommends specialized tooling and training needed to the Maintenance Operations Manager for members of the assigned crew.
- Maintain a current knowledge of aircraft factory mods, service bulletins, inspection schedule requirements, vendor information and all other procedures, publications and general information pertaining to the aircraft and avionics equipment installed.
- Recommends tooling and equipment to increase productivity to reduce costs and enhance safety to the Aircraft Maintenance Operations Manager.
- Reviews workscope with Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief and Project Manager prior to aircraft arrival to ensure accurate and complete understanding of the tasks to be accomplished. Seeks out missing or incomplete information as required.
- Notifies Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief of major discrepancies/difficulties.
- Reviews material requirements prior to aircraft arrival, working closely with Material Handling personnel to set priorities and ensure on time arrivals while minimizing costs. Ensures warranty and exchange items are handled correctly.
- Plan, schedule and be responsible for the accomplishment of tasks required on assigned aircraft in order to meet schedule and to provide required status report and progress schedule to the Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief.
- Coordinate efforts of Maintenance, Design, Engineering, Quality Control, Avionics, Electrical, Wire, Modifications, Paint, Interiors, and Material Handling on assigned projects.
- Reviews the progress of each task daily, monitoring the budgeted hours and materials, recommending corrective action as necessary to remain within budgets.
- Notifies Maintenance Operations Manager and crew chiefs of negative variances on progress of project as soon as projected or known.
- Inspects work accomplished by members of the assigned crew.
- Responsible for efficient execution of avionic installations and alterations performed under the CRS.•Liaise with Sales, Engineering, Planning, and Procurement teams to ensure avionics projects properly prepared for. Works directly with vendors in a liaison/support role
