Job Title: Electronics Technician (AAPL)
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electronics Technician to join our team. In this role, you will troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment that utilizes electronic and computer systems to control hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical subsystems. This position offers a 9-month contract to hire opportunity with core shift hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment with electronic and computer systems.
- Diagnose problems based on observations, deviations from specifications, and reports from shop staff.
- Dismantle machinery to access, inspect, repair, or replace defective components.
- Test machines following repair to ensure operation within specifications and requirements.
- Replace instrument and control components, including pressure transducers and thermocouples.
- Build and wire AC/DC circuits.
- Repair electronic equipment.
- Troubleshoot and install PLC systems, pressure transducers, and motor controllers.
- Take test readings using instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
- Work independently or as part of a technical team.
Essential Skills- Experience reading schematics.
- Experience hand soldering (certificate of training/education preferred).
- Experience troubleshooting and installing electronic systems.
- Proficiency with multimeters and other testing equipment.
- Experience with pressure transducers and thermocouples.
- 4+ years of relevant experience or an associates degree.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with soldering PCB, surface-mount technology, circuit boards, and panel components.
- Knowledge of manual machining, hydraulics, and low voltage electrical wiring.
- Familiarity with test equipment, repair, and electronics testing.
- Ability to work with schematics, oscilloscopes, and pressure valves.

Work Environment
The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance, and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities. This position is located at the Aero Acoustic Propulsion Laboratory (AAPL). Core shift hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential rotation to 2nd/3rd shift during testing periods, offering shift differentials. The position is a 9-month contract to hire opportunity.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.11 - $31.11/hr.
