Splunk Administrator

Job Description:

DPP is seeking a Splunk Administrator for a fully remote opportunity.

Location: Fully remote within the continental United States. Must be comfortable working in Eastern time zone.
Duration: 6 months with the possibility of extension; W2 position.
Work authorization: US Citizenship is required to be considered for this position.
Other: Candidate must be able to meet all CUI requirements (see below)

Position description:

The Splunk Administrator supports the design, administration, and enhancement of a Splunk platform operating within a Linux cluster. The Administrator will be responsible for daily system operations, platform improvements, upgrades, and cross-team technical support.

Daily duties and responsibilities:

Administer and maintain Splunk in a clustered Linux environment.
Perform daily operational checks to verify system health and license utilization.
Create and manage indexes, applications, source types, servers, and log ingestion.
Develop dashboards and train others on dashboard creation and usage.
Utilize the Splunk management console for monitoring and administration.
Manage Linux administration tasks, including file permissions and filesystem maintenance (e.g., NFS).
Use version control and configuration management tools such as Git, Bitbucket, SaltStack, or Ansible.
Serve as a technical resource assisting Windows and Linux administrators with forwarder installs and log flow validation.
Provide guidance on advanced search techniques and troubleshooting.
Identify architectural deficiencies and recommend or implement improvements.
Perform Splunk Enterprise and Universal Forwarder upgrades.
Contribute to research and development efforts as needed.
Train and mentor junior staff and provide expert-level assistance.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

5+ years of Splunk administration experience.
5+ years of Linux administration experience.
5+ years of Bash scripting experience.

Preferred:

Experience working in a VDI environment.

Education:

Associate&39;s degree or equivalent work experience.

Certifications:

Splunk certification preferred.

CUI requirements:

I understand that only the workspaces designated for this project and that are specified in the approved Technology Control Plan (TCP) or granted by the Office of Export Control and Research Security (ECRS), may be used to access, process, store, or transmit regulated research data.
I understand that I must use the Granite Secure VDI to view, store, process, or transmit regulated research data (CUI, Export Control, etc.) from onsite University work locations and/or my approved remote work site as defined in my approved remote work agreement. (CMMC v2: PE.L2-3.10.6)
The computer screen should not be facing windows, and open doors where it can be viewed by people who have not been CUI approved and that they should lock their computer when not being near it
