Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.Reporting to the Director, NRFO and Operational Excellence, the Specialist, Advance Planning - Flight Operations is responsible for delivering cross-functional initiatives to improve Air Canada’s Flight Operations Operational performance as part of the NRFO and OE team. Participate in operational improvement teams, working closely with team members from other branches to ensure continuity of CI Projects.
The position will also be responsible to manage all resource requirements and forecasting directly related to training and crew resources departments. They will be responsible for the development, implementation, measurement and reporting of forecasting tools to optimize Air Canada’s pilot training requirements and fleet growth/reduction initiatives.Responsibilities:
Responsible for building and maintaining forecast tools and documentation.Recommend and help implement operational and crew resource improvement initiatives on behalf of the Flight Operations branch, develop and execute small to medium scale continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Director, Non-Revenue Flight Operations and Operational Excellence.Conduct benchspaning, best practices and other competitor assessment methods.Prepare a communication plan and related project status reports to Flight Operations team members to provide project updates on resources, training and integration deliverables, as well as risks and mitigation strategies and/or options.Demonstrate subject matter expertise in crew training logistic operational improvement and/or airline-specific functions.Facilitate problem-solving and decision making at the operational level, including risk mitigation to ensure quality and efficiency throughout the training cycle, escalating as required.Responsible for building and maintaining a qualification resource process planning manual.Forecast mid to long-term simulator usage and availability for all fleet types.Forecast mid to long-term training and or check requirements that are directly related or impact simulator usage and crew training productivity.Develop business cases to support Flight Operations training initiatives and contribute to RFP and AFC processes.Manage all resource capabilities and manpower long term requirements.Collaborate with training and crew resources departments to ensure requirements of both departments are met and Air Canada aircraft are appropriately staffed.Work with the various business units and branches to ensure successful forecasting of training requirements and fleet availability.Forecast availability of excess simulator time for 3rd Party revenue.Provide detailed analysis on actual training footprints and determining future gaps to assumed training footprints.Improve opportunities to track training delays (or early completions) to enhance crew planning coverage forecasts.Develop and maintain a forecast of resource requirements.Develop dashboards indicating training opportunities.Develop system to track lost resource capability and ensure where applicable supplier contractual commitments are met and penalties applied.Build and maintain training plans for aircraft fleet introductions and integration.Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Director, NRFO and Operational Excellence.
QualificationsUniversity or college degree or diploma, relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be taken into consideration.At least 10 years work experience in Airline environment (scheduling or operational).Requires in depth expertise and knowledge of Air Canada pilot training requirements.Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and ability to lead and influence with or without formal authority.Demonstrated capability to carry out technical projects or developments of high complexity to their successful completion within the budgeted time and cost, with minimal supervision and guidance.Familiar with Transport Canada Aviation regulations and norms.Excellent knowledge of computer software (Excel/ Word, and Air Canada proprietary scheduling and qualifications software).Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.Work remotely with minimal supervision, and travel as required for the position.Fleet introduction experience is considered a strong asset.Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
