Job Description:

Amentum is seeking a Lessons Learned Analyst at our Ft Belvoir, VA location to assist and support the development of tactics, techniques and procedures by capturing, analyzing, and disseminating time sensitive Personnel Recovery lessons-learned and field data during execution of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel / Personnel Recovery Operations worldwide. The selected candidate will assist the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA) on site in collecting data, research analysis, identifying trends and issues, and preparing comprehensive, written reports of lessons-learned to identify deficiencies and recommend solutions to further improve personnel recovery capability across the Services, Combatant Commands, other government agencies, and coalition partners. 

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis observations, issues, and lessons for validity and recommend solutions to PR problem sets.
  • Research, analyze, identify, and assess personnel recovery lessons learned requirements or trends through review of data collection efforts.
  • Provide analysis on all aspects of personnel recovery to establish support for, identify issues with, or shortfalls in, current practices and make recommendations on further action. 
  • Data collection, processing, analysis, dissemination, integration and archiving of personnel recovery related observations, insights, lessons, and tactics techniques and procedures from training venues, and operations.
  • Organize all data collected for easy retrieval (electronic and hard paper copy collections). 
  • Review and assess DOD, Inter-Agency, and Coalition personnel recovery interoperability opportunities, redundancies, and gaps. 
  • Develop, draft and coordinate initial documentation reports for client review and comment. Prepare final client approved reports Draft and submit after-action reports, oral histories, trip reports, debriefings and other documents as required. 
  • Travel OCONUS and CONUS as needed to collect data from various DOD entities for review, analysis, and long-term archive storage. 

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent educational experience. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization of access to classified information.
  • Prior experience working in a Joint Military environment.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS). 
  • Prior experience as a lessons learned analyst or Knowledge of lessons learned processes.
  • Experience associated with the personnel recovery mission or a related mission area. 
  • Knowledge of Joint processes and systems (ex. JSAP). 
  • Skills in the management, organization, and presentation of collected data. 
  • Experience in application of Microsoft Office software. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent command of written communication skills. 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Author documents at the Service Headquarters, Joint Staff, or Combatant Command Headquarters levels. 
  • Master’s Degree in a related field. 
  • Provide leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of a manager or executive. 
  • Analyze and develop new and innovative approaches, methodologies, or techniques to personnel recovery problem issues.  
  • Ability to task organize a project that frequently affects more than one unit or division. 

Additional Info:  

In accordance with Joint Travel Regulations, Volume 2, may be required to travel by regularly scheduled passenger military or commercial aircraft in performance of TDY. 

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
